My son and I came to Florida looking to experience the state and enjoy some father and son time.
We started in Orlando and from there traveled to Daytona Beach, Miami, and ended up in Marathon.
We thoroughly enjoyed the trip but the highlight was finding Captain Wayne Gatling, and chartering a morning fishing trip.
We left the launch around 8:00 AM and within 20 minutes or so, Captain Wayne dropped anchor and the fishing began.
We were using light tackle and boy was it fun! Within five minutes of dropping our lines we began catching fish. I never realized how many different species of fish there were to catch.
By the end of the morning we boated porgies, mandarin snapper, one small bonnet head shark, puffer fish, catfish, a couple other species I don’t remember the name of and I broke off twice on a couple of nice blue fish.
At the end of our trip Captain Wayne cleaned our fish and recommended us going to a local restaurant and having them cook the fish for us.
We did as Captain Wayne suggested and dinner turned out excellent.
Thank you Captain Wayne for the awesome experience!
I hope to do it again when the tarpon are on the bite.
I highly recommend anyone looking for a great fishing experience to book a trip with Captain Wayne Gatling on his boat the Fishin Fool.
We went out with Capt. Wayne for the day and caught over 50 fish. Around 22 of those were keepers in which we feasted on that night. The rest were either reef sharks, groupers, baitfish or others.
I would highly recommend this charter service if you want to catch fish. Capt. Wayne will definitely work making that happen.
Thank you for the kind words Art! Hope to see you on my boat in Rock Hall this summer.
Fishing in the Gulf with Captain Wayne was great. It's important to have a connection with your captain and captain Wayne made us feel right at home. He told stories, we told stories and just felt good on our trip. We connected, we caught fish, we had great weather. Great time fishing with Gatling Guide Service and would do it again given the opportunity.
Thanks for the kind words Dan! I totally enjoyed fishing with you and Wands! Hope to see you Tarpon fishing soon.
THANK YOU WAYNE.
I have known Wayne for over 20 years and have fished the Chesapeake on his Charter Boat many times over the years. I can truthfully say I have always caught fish, never had a bad day, and have had some great days.
However, in the summer of 2014 I was able to fish three times with him in the Chesapeake and it was just great, the last time was in August and I was able to take my two sons, caught over 70 fish. I decided to give a present to my sons of a trip to the Keys in Marathon to fish with Wayne.
If I could write a script of what a perfect fishing trip could be, it just would not match the time we had. Perfect weather, over 140 fish caught, of over 20 species, including two Tarpon hooked (115 LB plus, and an approximate 80 lb), three other strikes, two 100 lb plus sharks, barracuda, Groupers, Lady fish, hog head, porgies, mackerel, Blue Waters, four different types of snappers, and many more I cannot remember.
But the most memorable for me was that it was with my sons.
AGAIN THANK YOU WAYNE.
Thanks Captain Wayne for a fantastic tarpon trip! We appreciate the extra effort you always make - moonlight departure, pre-scouting the best spots, and catching fresh baits. Would have been a good time even if we hadn't caught the target tarpon but fighting and releasing the big tarpon was fantastic fun! Catching a limit of snapper, enough for many meals, was a major bonus. Can't wait till next year's trip!
I had the good fortune of hooking up with Captian Wayne some 10 years ago at the 7 mile marina in Marathon Florida.I have been fishing each year with Wayne when I vacation in Marathon.Wayne is terrific he works hard to find where the fish are and is a real fish finder.Wayne is fun to fish with he takes care of his customers and he has a tremendous amount of patience.Whether you are trying to hook up mangrove snapper or the exciting tarpon one of the grat fighting fishes in the Keys Wayne is your go to captian.I caught my first tarpon with Wayne and will never forget it!Each trip with Wayne is exciting and it is such a treat to be out on the beautiful waters of the keys with such a knowledgeable fisherman like Wayne.I highly reccommend booking a charter with Wayne the next time one is in Marathon Florida.
I have been fishing with Capt Wayne in Rock Hall MD for almost 10 years and I'm convinced that Wayne is the hardest working Captin that You can find in the Rock Hall area. He has been fishing that area for 40 years and knows those waters like the back of his hand and always seems to be able to find fish! He is the kind of Captin that seems as excited to catch fish as His clients. When We want to take or employees on a fishing trip I always book Him and have never been disappointed with the way He works with 13 rookies trying to fish is amazing! This year 1 of the owners took His 6 year old son along and the extra patience He and the Mate showed with Him were alwesome! Captin Wayne is the kind of guide that will make His recommendations on how he thinks will be the best way to catch fish and also the way that a big or small group will enjoy themselves. He listens to what his client's are saying and is not afraid to ask what you want to do. By the time We get back to the dock He already has the fished fileted and in bags react to take home a big plus in my book. Spending a day on the water with Captin Wayne has always been a great experience for Me and Our employees and I recommend Him to all My family and friends. I have never been disappointed !
Fishing in the Keys with Wayne is an awesome experience. Not only is the scenery beautiful, but the variety of fish is overwhelming! The best part is the fact that once you leave the dock, you are out on the reef catching fish within minutes!
On a trip to the Keys I went fishing with Wayne and caught more fish than I had in my entire life. The next Summer on a trip up North I went to Rock Hall and again had great success. Boy, Wayne sure knows where to find the fish.
